“The Shack” at Sheboygan’s Vollrath Park disc golf course will be operated by a new vendor.
At Monday’s (June 16th) Common Council meeting, the group approved a Use and Services Agreement with Riverside Disc Golf, LLC out of West Bend to run the course’s concession facility.
Riverside Disc Golf currently operates another concession facility at Riverside Park in West Bend and, according to Joe Kerlin, Sheboygan’s Parks Manager, they are, “professional, knowledgeable, and very involved with players from beginners to advanced.”
The agreement in place will see Riverside operate the facility for three years initially, followed by two, one-year renewals available.
Improvements will be made before Riverside can move into the building, and therefore, an opening date is yet to be set.
In the past, the facility, previously named “The Shack”, sold a plethora of discs and an assortment of snacks for players, however, under Riverside, the goal is to offer disc golf equipment, concessions, disc golf lessons, and a platform to host Professional Disc Golf Association tournaments in the future.
In the coming weeks, the City of Sheboygan and Riverside Disc Golf will coordinate an opening date once facility upgrades are completed.
