
Manitowoc’s 19u American Legion baseball team has improved its record to 3-0.
Manitowoc hosted Green Bay Southwest at Municipal Field and picked up the win 4-3.
Scoring would be kicked off in the bottom of the 2nd inning off the bat of Brett Danielson, who hit a 2-run double before a Cade Voelker single would plate another baserunner, making the score 3-0.
Southwest would get a run back in the top of the 3rd, but Manitowoc would answer back quickly thanks to a one-run single in the bottom half of the inning.
Pitcher Seth Gibeault would earn the win for Manitowoc in relief after striking out five batters, allowing three hits and two runs.
A well-balanced offensive attack and good baserunning were the difference in this matchup against Southwes,t as Manitowoc would steal five bases on the day, two of which were swiped by Sawyer Van Drisse.
With the win, Manitowoc’s 19u American Legion squad remains undefeated at 3-0 and will next be in action on the road against the Ashwaubenon A’s later today.
Meanwhile, the Manitowoc 17U squad fell to Green Bay Southwest 10-3, with Caden Baudhuin knocking in a pair of runs.
