Two fire departments will be working together more often because of a new agreement.
The City of Two Rivers approved a mutual aid agreement at Monday’s council meeting, making it so both the City and Town of Two Rivers Fire Departments will respond to calls together for all residential, structural, commercial, and recreational fires.
The Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch Center used to call the fire departments separately when someone called 911 to report a fire.
According to city documents, if one department determines that it can handle a fire, it can instruct the other department to turn back. City Manager Greg Buckley says the agreement is a valuable step forward.
The Town of Two Rivers must also approve the agreement.
