A boat caught fire in the Manitowoc Marina Wednesday night.
Lieutenant Scott Larsen with Manitowoc Fire Rescue tells SeehaferNews.com that a personal fishing boat caught fire in the early evening hours, causing several units to respond.
“Engine two arrived first on scene and began fire attack,” he reported. “They were backed up by engine four, and…Branch Fire Department came and helped out.”
Aleah Gross, a resident who was watching the scene unfold, reported that it took around 15-30 minutes for the flames to be completely doused.
It is not clear at this time what started the fire. Lt. Larsen also noted, “Make sure that your boat is in top working order. Make sure that all the preventative maintenance is done. I cannot say what caused the fire, but you know, just as a general tip, maintain your boat.”
No injuries were reported, and the boat was taken from the marina at around 7:00 p.m.
It is not clear if any foul play is suspected.
