Recent changes at the Mead Public Library in Sheboygan are receiving mixed reviews.
The library switched to a new patron interface named Discover on June 2nd, and the response has seen strong support for and against the move.
In the monthly report submitted to the Mead Public Library Board of Trustees for their upcoming meeting, Cheryl Nessman, the library’s Support Services Manager, said, “Some seem fine with the change and enjoy the updated look, while others hate it. We will advocate for keeping a link to the old catalog available for as long as possible so patrons can choose the catalog they feel most comfortable with.”
However, another recent addition to the library, the 24/7 lockers, continues to be a massive hit.
Nessman’s report states that the outdoor lockers that allow the pickup of materials at any time rarely have availability, meaning they are occupied nearly every day.
Funding, which is 100% funded by private donations through the Mead Public Library Foundation, allows for an additional column of lockers to be added in the near future.
This funding came entirely from private donations through the Mead Public Library Foundation.
While funding has been secured, a timeline for the addition is unknown at this time.
