While calls for service through the Manitowoc Police Department this year are down, the number of adult criminal charges is up.
That’s according to the department’s monthly report.
In May last year, there were 131 adult criminal charges, compared to 143 this year.
However, the year-to-date total is still down from 2024.
Total calls for service are also down from this time last year.
The Manitowoc Police have had 2,397 calls for service in May 2025, compared to 2,766 in May 2024.
The total number of service calls in 2025 is 10,954, compared to 12,745 at this time last year.
MPD also reports that juvenile criminal charges are down, with six in May 2025 compared to 12 in May 2024.
There were also 13 fewer car crashes so far this year compared to 439 at this time last year.
