
One person is dead after a horse drawn carriage was struck by a vehicle over the weekend.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office was called to Highway 10 east of Maertz Road in the Township of Cato just before 9:00 Sunday morning (June 15th) to investigate the crash.
The initial investigation showed a 42-year-old Brillion woman was traveling east on Highway 10, when she struck the carriage from behind.
The 27 and 13-year-old individuals in the carriage were ejected, with he elder individual dying a the scene.
The 13-year-old was taken via ambulance to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is conducting a full crash reconstruction, and no additional details are being released.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by Reedsville Fire Department and First Responders, Branch Fire Department, Valders Fire Department, St. Nazianz Fire Department, Theda Star Helicopter, Manitowoc County Coroner’s Office, Manitowoc County Highway Department, Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Hi-Way 42 Garage & Towing.
