Two area girls soccer squads are set to battle with a trip to state on the line.
The Kiel Raiders and the Cedar Grove-Belgium Rockets will take to the pitch at Cedar Grove High School today at 1:00 p.m. to crown a sectional champion.
The Raiders come into this game sporting a record of 24-4-1 off the back of a 4-2 victory over Winneconne on Thursday.
As for the Rockets, the quest to remain undefeated will continue as they are an impressive 24-0-0 on the season after beating the EWC champion Sheboygan Falls Falcons 6-1 in the sectional semifinals.
Both squads are led by elite goal-scoring forwards with Cedar Grove-Belgium’s Cora Erickson becoming the highest-scoring girls soccer player in state history earlier this year and Kiel’s Taavi Seager tallying 65 goal contributions on the season.
The Rockets have won by an average of 5 goals this season, however, won a narrow 1-0 game in the two teams’ lone previous matchup this season.
The winner will advance to the Division 3 state semifinals and be just two victories away from capturing a state title.
