A Valders comeback attempt falls short in the Division 3 State Semifinal.
The Vikings fell to the top-seeded Fall Creek Crickets 6-4 on Goodman Diamond in Madison. Fall Creek took an early 3-0 lead in the 1st inning, but the Vikings would retaliate with a run-scoring triple off the bat of Adelyn Massert in the 2nd.
Both teams traded scoreless at-bats, before the Crickets struck again, with three more runs in the 3rd.
A scoreless fourth led to a very important 5th for Valders, as Anna Olson drove in a pair with a double to right field, and Makenna Kaderabek scored on a fielding error, bringing the Vikings back to within two.
However, they couldn’t muster any more offense, falling one game short of the state championship.
Kyra Kocian went the distance on the mound, suffering the loss.
Valders’ historic season ends at 20-7, and with their first trip to the state tournament in school history.
