An annual program hosted by the Sheboygan Police Department has just come to an end.
The Department has wrapped up its 29th annual Citizens Academy after an 11-week period of education and insight for Sheboygan residents.
All those who participated got a behind-the-scenes look at exactly what those with the department do in various different roles.
This included patrol officers, CID operations, K9 units, victim services, and much more.
In addition to learning about different jobs at the Sheboygan Police Department, those in the academy learned about the difficult yet important topics such as the use of force, de-escalation, and crisis intervention while also getting hands-on firearm training and other real-world scenarios officers find themselves in.
11 Sheboyganites graduated from the program and received certificates upon its completion.
In a statement after the Citizens Academy came to an end, Sheboygan PD said, “We are incredibly thankful for the time, energy, and interest shown by this year’s group. Your support and engagement are vital to our mission and success.”
