A Brown County village will be stepping up its police patrols on electric bicycles.
According to the Village of Howard, despite repeated requests for e-bike operators to ride more responsibly, they keep receiving complaints from residents.
The Howard Police Department will be conducting special enforcement patrols of all children riding e-bikes.
The department says while officers would rather use their time patrolling the streets and attending to other important matters, residents have made it clear that e-bikes and electric scooters have gotten out of control throughout the village.
According to Howard leaders, all e-bike riders must possess a valid driver’s license, operator’s license, or instructional permit and must be at least 16 years old.
If a child gets caught, a ticket will be given to their parents.
