Municipal Baseball Field in Manitowoc is getting a new name.
The Manitowoc Public School Board approved a proclamation on Tuesday to rename the Lincoln Ships home diamond as Bruce Steinbecker Field.
The declaration states that Steinbecker has served the district for 28 years as a teacher and coach, embodying the values of leadership, perseverance, and community spirit.
The district says renaming the field is not only a tribute to the coach but a symbolic gesture honoring all teachers and coaches throughout the Manitowoc Public School District, whose daily efforts shape the minds and futures of our youth with the same passion, purpose, and pride.
Bruce Steinbecker Field becomes official on June 19th, marking the end of the high school baseball season in the district.
Board Member Keith Shaw explained to the board that the full proclamation will be read after the baseball field project is completed.
The project includes the creation of a new turf field, backstops, a press box, and new bleachers.
