The numbers are in, and Manitowoc County is once again boasting record-breaking tourism numbers.
Governor Tony Evers recently announced that as a state, Wisconsin posted its third consecutive record-breaking year, generating $25.8 billion in economic impact through tourism in 2024.
Locally, Manitowoc County posted a new record high of $227 million in tourism revenue. Two Rivers is boasting a 2.25% increase in total room tax revenue, which is also a record.
Explore Two Rivers attributed this increase to the room tax dollars allocated to “several important initiatives, including the beach warning system, partial funding for the Central Park renovations, matching funds for a West Foundation grant to improve playground equipment, Explore Two Rivers Opportunity Grants for local events, ongoing park maintenance, and marketing efforts for the City of Two Rivers.”
Visit Manitowoc also commented, saying “Tourism helps lower taxes for households by $678 and helps shape Manitowoc into a desirable place to live, work, and play. Thank you to all our partners and tourists in 2024 for another outstanding year.”
It is estimated that one in twenty-one jobs around the state are directly sustained by tourism, including 1,717 jobs in Manitowoc County.
