The countdown is on for the drydocking of the USS Cobia.
The Wisconsin Maritime Museum has placed a countdown clock on its website, indicating that there are only 84 days remaining before the Cobia is taken out of the water for cleaning and refurbishment in Sturgeon Bay.
Submarine Curator Karen Duvalle told Seehafnernews.com last year that the underside of the Cobia is 100% coverage in zebra and quagga muscles, so it’s hard to know if there’s anything wrong underneath.
The museum is raising $1.2 million to dry dock the World War II submarine.
Communications Director Emily Shedal explained in February that the museum had almost raised $1,000,000.
The last time the USS Cobia was dry-docked was in 1996.
