Organizers in two local cities will be exercising their constitutional right to protest this week.
No Kings Day of Defiance protests are slated for Saturday (June 14th) across the country including in Manitowoc and Sheboygan.
Manitowoc’s anti-Trump protest will start at 1:30 p.m. at the North Breakwater Lighthouse Shelter, while Sheboygan’s will begin at noon at Sheboygan Peace Park.
These are just two of nearly 2,000 protests scheduled across the U.S. to “reject Trump’s $100 million parade and his billionaire-first agenda.”
These protests were previously scheduled, however, after President Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard on those protesting ICE in Los Angeles, No Kings released a statement, noting that this action only furthered the group’s sentiment.
They said, “Instead of listening, the Trump Administration is escalating tensions. Against the guidance of local leaders, they are deploying military force to suppress free speech. They do not care about our safety—it’s about silencing opposition. It’s a blatant abuse of power designed to intimidate families, stoke fear, and crush dissent.”
In that same statement, No Kings also noted that all of their events adhere to a shared commitment to nonviolent protest and community safety against authoritarianism.
