Some Eastern Wisconsin workforce development boards are receiving grants as part of the Worker Advancement Initiative (WAI).
The money comes from Governor Tony Evers’ Workforce Solutions Initiative, funded by federal relief money.
The Bay Area Workforce Development Board in Green Bay is receiving $900,000 to provide skill accelerator training to about 100 participants through a partnership.
The Fox Valley Workforce Board in Neenah is receiving approximately $1.1 million to provide 75 workers with Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training and welding instruction in partnership with Moraine Park Technical College.
Lastly, the Waukesha-Ozaukee-Washington Workforce Development Board is also receiving approximately $1.1 million to support 115 individuals with rapid training and upskilling in sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, and transportation logistics.
Evers says WAI has served more than 2,300 Wisconsinites, and to date, programs included in the governor’s Workforce Solutions Initiative have collectively served more than 33,000 Wisconsinites across the state.
