A Manitowoc elementary school is being recognized for its achievement growth for all students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Franklin Elementary School was honored with the designation of a “High Impact” School of Recognition by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
Franklin is one of 70 Title 1 schools across the state that demonstrated “high impact” above-average achievement in the 2023-24 school year compared to schools with similar demographics.
Franklin Elementary School Principal Matt Heller applauded students, staff, and families for their work, saying, “Franklin students are engaged in their literacy and math every day, and we are proud of their growth as learners every year.”
Franklin Elementary School had “met expectations” on state report cards for the past three years.
“High Impact” schools are recognized based on a rigorous set of criteria and must get Title 1 funding and meet a 95% test participation rate across all students.
