The crime numbers in Oshkosh have followed a gradual and continued drop in the month of May.
Each month, the Oshkosh Police Department releases crime statistics, and last month, while not as steep a decrease as other months, numbers have fallen once again.
Of the nine categories they track, five are down from this time last year, including homicide, aggravated assault, theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson.
Crimes up in 2025 compared to last year are sex offenses, simple assault, robbery, and burglary.
Both homicide and arson are down 100% as the city has not experienced either as of yet this year.
On the other side of things, robbery is up 500%, but that number may be misleading as six have occurred this year in comparison to just one in 2024 through May.
By the numbers, theft and motor vehicle theft have seen the biggest drop as the City has experienced 62 fewer thefts and 13 fewer motor vehicle thefts.
In May, there were 17 OWI arrests, 3 weapons violations, and 37 drug offenses in Oshkosh.
Oshkosh PD finished their release by saying, “The safety of our citizens is always our top priority, and officers continue to work diligently to ensure this safety and increase the quality of life for all.”
