
Johnsonville is closing a plant in Illinois and bringing the jobs back to Wisconsin.
An article from Meat + Poultry explains that Momence Packing, which is owned by Johnsonville LLC announced the closure of the facility which will layoff 274 employees.
The sausage maker explains that the work from the Momence plant will be relocated to three other facilities and expects to create about 100 new jobs by the end of the third quarter between two plants in Sheboygan Falls and Watertown.
Equipment from the Momence plant will also be transferred to different locations.
The Illinois facility began operating in 1962 and has been producing meat for Johnsonville since 1995.
