The Mishicot Indians and Valders Vikings now know who and when they’ll play at The WIAA State Girls Softball Tournament in Madison. Mishicot drew the two-seed in Division Four and will face Mineral Point at approximately 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Goodman Diamond in Madison. This is their third consecutive trip to state, fourth in the last five years and seventh in the previous ten. It’s quite a run, but they have just one state title to show for it in 2021. Head Coach Dawn Shimek says her team has been on a mission all season long.
“The whole season has been very businesslike. It’s a blessing to have won conference, regional, and sectional championships. We’re happy, but we’re not done yet. We look forward to getting back to work and preparing for Mineral Point.”
Valders is going to the big dance for the first time in school history. The Vikings are the four-seed in Division Three and will play top-seed Fall Creek at 11:30 a.m. Friday morning. Head Coach Steve Dietrich tells seehafernews.com that he’ll seek advice from Coach Shimek on how to handle and prepare for Madison.
“She’s been down there. She knows the ropes. This is new, and I’ll take any advice I can from her so I or the kids aren’t blindsided by it all. I want this to be an enjoyable experience for everyone involved, but to be honest, we are planning on playing two games in Madison this weekend.”
Denmark is the two-seed in Division Two and will play three-seed Lakeland at approximately 7 p.m. Friday.
Championship games in all four divisions will be played on Saturday, June 14th.
