A Milwaukee man is facing charges after a police pursuit with Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Deputies last night (June 6th).
Sheriff Dan Hartwig explains that a deputy responded to a report of a silver Ford Escape driving erratically on Interstate 43 northbound near Fischer Creek Road.
The SUV was seen slowing down to 55 mph before speeding up quickly and swerving between lanes.
As the deputy tried to stop the vehicle near Rockwood Road, the 23-year-old suspect sped away at 90 to 110 mph.
A pursuit ensued before the Ford exited I-43 at Highway V and Hillcrest Road and crashed into a Shell gas station sign.
The Milwaukee man fled the scene on foot, which caused the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office to set up a perimeter to search for him.
The suspect was found shortly after and taken to Froedtert Holy Family Memorial for injuries he sustained in the crash.
He then went to the Manitowoc County Jail.
The 23-year-old has two active warrants out of Milwaukee County and also faces charges of fleeing an officer and two counts of felony bail jumping.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office also got help from Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch, Wisconsin State Patrol, Highway 42 garage, and the Manitowoc Fire Department.
