
Regional finals will be held throughout the state Saturday (today) in The WIAA Girls Soccer Tournament. In Division Three, Kiel hosts Luxemburg Casco at 7 p.m. at Fifrick Field. Sheboygan Falls is home to Notre Dame of Green Bay, and Undefeated Cedar Grove Belgium entertains Kewaskum. In Division Four, the state’s top-ranked team, the Howards Grove Tigers, hosts the New Holstein Huskies and Providence Academy/Green Bay New Lutheran at Wrightstown. Division Two matches have top-ranked Plymouth home for Wauwatosa West and West De Pere at Pulaski. Division One matches include Sheboygan North at Arrowhead, Bay Port hosting Appleton North, and De Pere travels to Kimberly.
The WIAA State Track and Field Championships continue at Veterans Memorial Stadium on the campus of UW-Lacrosse. Several athletes from Manitowoc County are participating, aiming to reach the podium. The competition is scheduled to conclude late Saturday afternoon.
Seeding takes place today for the WIAA State Girls Softball Tournament, which begins Wednesday at Goodman Diamond in Madison. Mishicot returns for the third consecutive year and is part of The Division Four field. Valders is in Division Three and making its first trip in program history, while Denmark will be in the Division Two field after upsetting the defending state champion Waupun Warriors in the sectional final on Thursday. In Shoreland League Baseball, the Manitowoc Bandits host The Two Rivers Polar Bears in their home opener at Municipal Field. It’s Shad Hintz night when the 21-year veteran of both The Polar Bears and The Bandits will be officially inducted into the Shoreland League Hall of Fame. The ceremony begins at 5 p.m., with the first pitch scheduled to be thrown at 5:30 p.m.
In semi-pro football, The Manitowoc County Mariners are in Wisconsin Dells to play The Tri-City Bulldogs in a Northern Lights League contest. The kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. while The Sheboygan County SaberCats travel to St. Norbert’s College in De Pere for a Midwest League game against The Brown County Blackjacks. The kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
