
The WIAA State Track and Field Meet begins today at Veterans Memorial Stadium in LaCrosse, and several athletes from Manitowoc County will be looking to reach the podium.
In Division One, Tessa Campbell of Manitowoc Lincoln competes in the 200- and 400-meter dash, and the 4 by 400-meter relay team of Campbell, Calla Eichmann, Breanna Jansky, and Khloe Jalbert are the top seed with a time of 3 minutes 55 and 89 hundredths seconds.
In Division Two, Christian Pyles of Two Rivers is the top seed in the shot put with a throw of 59 feet in sectionals last week and Allie Gallagher competes in the 3200-meter run.
Kiel is represented by Maddison McDole in the 300 meter hurdles and the high jump, Harrison Zorn in the 200 meter dash and Adam Curry in the 400 meter dash.
Division Three competitors include from Manitowoc Lutheran, Gabriel Stuebs in the 400 meter dash, Jacob Kanzenbach, who’s the top seed in the 800 meter run, Trenton Schuettpelz in the Triple Jump, Issac Wagner in the Long Jump, Bitsy Blauert in the Girls Long Jump and the 4 by 400 meter relay team of Stevie Brunner, Lilly Melhorn, Ava Stuebs and Addie Korte with alternates Makiah Krause and Maddie Keil.
Roncalli is represented by Dominic Thiele in the 1600-meter run and the 4 by 200-meter relay team of Thiele, Drew Reimer, Nico Vaca, Matthew Pauwels, Owen Jensen and Atley Flores.
Mishicot is represented by Juliana Doerner in the 100- and 200-meter dash, Kenna Stodola in the Pole Vault, Michaelynn Wotachek in the High Jump, and in the boys 4 by 200-meter relay by Gabriel Kunz, Brayden Fix, Bradley Wendricks, Bryce Grossheim, Benjamin Backus and Gavyn Hagenow.
Gunnar Romuald and Issac Mangin of Valders both run in the 800 meters, and Reedsville’s Anthony Tyler competes in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles.
Competition continues through Saturday.
