The City of Two Rivers has announced its next city manager.
During a special meeting this morning, the City Council finalized the contract with Kyle Kordell, officially bringing him on board to take over for Greg Buckley upon his retirement.
Kordell served the Village of Lake Zurich, Illinois, as the Assistant to the City Manager and as the Director of Management Services/Deputy Clerk for the past twelve years.
He also has a Masters of Public Administration, which Council President Scott Stechmesser told SeehaferNews.com was a big reason for his selection.
“Kordell showed us a lot of energy when he first when we first met with him during the interview process,” he explained. “He has a lot of good experience, he went to school for this type of position, he has a lot of good ideas that he’ll be able to bring to the city to help us move forward.”
He also noted that the public responded very well to Kornell during the public meet and greet last week.
“A lot of the people enjoyed talking with him,” the council president explained. “They also saw the excitement that he had for coming here and helping the city grow. It was a lot of positive comments.”
It is a big job to fill the shoes of Buckley, who has been in the position for nearly 30 years, but Stechmesser says he believes that Kordell will be around for quite some time.
“He’s shown a desire to move into a small city and put some roots down back in Wisconsin, and I think he’ll stay here for quite a long time.” He predicted. “Maybe not as long as 30 years like Greg did, but I think he’ll be a long-time member of the community.”
Kordell said of his hiring, “I’m honored to serve as the next City Manager of Two Rivers. This community is built on a foundation of hard-working people and resilience, and I believe Two Rivers’ greatest moments are in front of it.”
