The community has come out in strong support after two Oostburg residents passed away in a crash on Interstate 43.
51-year-old Nicole Horne and 56-year-old Jay Horne were killed on May 26th when a wrong-way driver struck their vehicle head-on while their daughter, 22-year-old Alissa Horne, suffered serious injuries.
A GoFundMe with a fundraising goal set at $25,000 was set up not long after the accident entitled, “Support Nathan & Allissa After Tragic Loss” with Nathan being Alissa’s brother.
In the time since the crash, the GoFundMe has more than doubled the goal thanks to over 600 donations from friends, family, and community members who look to help Alissa and Nathan shoulder the financial burden that comes with medical expenses and funeral costs for their parents.
In addition to direct donations to the cause, Culver’s of Oostburg will be hosting a fundraiser on Monday (June 9th).
From 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., 50% of all sales at Culver’s will go to the Horne’s following the loss of their parents.
