Authorities from Door County have found a body in the Bay of Green Bay.
The Door County Sheriff’s Office was notified on Wednesday (June 4th) that a dead body was found floating in the water just after 5:00 p.m.
Deputies and other emergency crews from the Town of Gibraltar would respond to the Bay of Green Bay near Little Strawberry Island.
The body was quickly recovered from the water and confirmed to be a female victim.
While law enforcement is aware of the female’s identity, her name is being withheld pending notification of her family.
No cause of death has been determined at this time, and it is uncertain if any foul play is suspected.
That information may come available at a later time following an autopsy, which is being conducted by the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Currently, the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remain under investigation.
The Door County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in its response by the Gibraltar Fire Department, Gibraltar First Responders, Gibraltar Police Department, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and Door County Emergency Services.
