A public health alert has been issued for certain ground beef products nationwide.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued an alert for Organic Rancher-branded one-pound packages of 85 percent lean, 15 percent fat organic ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli.
A recall was not issued by the FSIS as the products are no longer available for purchase.
These ground beef products were shipped nationwide to Whole Foods Market locations, including Wisconsin.
The products in question will display a use or freeze-by date that reads 6/19/25.
While there have been no confirmed reports of illness due to the product’s consumption, the alert was issued after Organic Rancher notified the FSIS that they had shipped items that had tested positive for a strain of E. coli.
Anyone with these ground beef products in their refrigerators or freezers are urged to throw them out or return them to their place of purchase.
