The woman charged with causing a police pursuit in Fond du Lac that led to several cars being damaged is getting a $500,000 cash bond.
19-year-old Kaitlynn Ray of De Pere is facing 25 charges when she appeared in a Fond du Lac County court for the first time yesterday.
WBAY reports that a criminal complaint accuses Ray of driving into oncoming traffic while being pursued by police last Friday (May 30th).
After a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy decided to terminate the pursuit, she continued to drive at 80 mph down the 25-mph zone.
Authorities say she would end up hitting several other vehicles while swerving in and out of the north and southbound lanes.
One vehicle had four juvenile girls, who all sustained injuries. Ray eventually came to a stop after hitting seven other vehicles and got out of her car because it was on fire.
The criminal complaint also alleges that she claimed that someone was trying to kill her after she was taken to a hospital.
However, a deputy believes she was hallucinating because of an intoxicant.
Charges she faces include 15 counts of 1st-degree recklessly endangering safety, OWI, and fleeing and eluding an officer, among others.
