The Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s DMV division is warning residents about a new phishing scam involving fraudulent text messages.
The messages falsely claim to be from the DMV and attempt to trick recipients into clicking on malicious links or revealing personal information, often referencing fake final notices or traffic fines.
A similar scam occurred earlier this year, and officials urge people not to respond to the texts and to report them to the DMV.
