The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is warning residents of poor air quality forecasts.
The DNR has issued an air quality advisory statewide, which took effect yesterday (June 3rd) and will remain in place until noon today due to Canadian wildfire smoke.
Smoke from Canada will be moving across Wisconsin from the northwest to the southwest throughout the day.
With this influx of wildfire smoke, air quality levels are expected to reach unhealthy levels, with short-term spikes of very unhealthy levels possible.
Those with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children are advised to move outdoor activities inside or to shorten said activities to avoid heavy exertion.
The DNR has stated they are watching the air quality forecast closely, and many expect some level of impact on air quality to continue throughout the week.
This is the second air quality advisory issued in Wisconsin this year with both being a direct result of the wildfires in Canada.
