The trial for the man charged with killing his cellmate at the Green Bay Correctional Institution is coming to an end.
Both prosecutors and the defense rested yesterday (June 3rd) in the case of 25-year-old Jackson Vogel.
WBAY reports that Vogel did take the stand yesterday in his own defense, saying he didn’t attack 19-year-old Micah Laureano because of his race or sexual orientation but because of previous sexual advances.
Those allegations were not brought up before the trial. Closing arguments are expected today before the case gets sent to the jury.
Vogel would get a life sentence if found guilty on a charge of 1st-degree intentional homicide.
He’s serving a prison sentence at GBCI after stabbing a family member in Manitowoc County back in 2016.
