A Sheboygan County representative is circulating a bill to not allow changing a person’s sex on their birth certificate.
Representative Lindee Brill of Sheboygan Falls says the bill would ensure that a birth certificate remains a reliable and biologically factual legal document in the State of Wisconsin and prevents altercations.
According to Brill, “Sex-based protections defend men and women against unjust discrimination, ensure equal access to employment, sports, and healthcare, and provide the legal groundwork upon which women’s shelters, including shelters for victims of sexual assault or domestic violence, are built.”
The Republican representative also says the bill follows federal policy regarding distinctions of sex in reference to sex-protective laws expressed in President Donald Trump’s Executive Order 14168 titled “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government.”
Brill is working with State Senator Steve Nass (NAHS) of Whitewater on the bill.
