June is now in full swing, meaning it’s time to celebrate the men and women who drive the biggest industry in the state, the dairy farmers.
June Dairy Month is a time set aside each year to highlight the dairy farmers who help make Wisconsin live up to its name as the dairy state.
Sen. Andre Jacque is excited for the month, as he tells SeehaferNews.com, “Our state leads the nation in cheese production and is a top producer of milk, butter, and other dairy products enjoyed across the country and around the world.”
While Wisconsinites are known for our affinity for all things cheese, Sen. Jacque reminds everyone that there’s more to June Dairy Month than eating or drinking high-quality dairy products.
“It’s the generation of farm families, the dedicated workers, the cheesemakers, the veterinarians, the truck drivers, and the small town businesses that make up the dairy supply chain,” he noted.”
Sen. Jaque also noted that these people are a key reason Wisconsin has such a beautiful landscape.
The New Franken Senator explained, “Our dairy farmers are among the best environmental stewards in the country, using conservation practices that protect their land and water for future generations.”
The $53 billion dairy industry is a key aspect of the Wisconsin economy and employs over 120,000 Wisconsinites.
June Dairy Month is highlighted all over the state with Dairy Breakfasts in each county.
Manitowoc County’s Breakfast on the Farm is slated for this Sunday at the Twin Elm family farm located at 9429 Highway 151. In Sheboygan County, all are invited to Double Dutch Dairy on June 21st, located at W3653 Hoitink Road in Cedar Grove.
