Art students in the Sheboygan Area School District have honored 50 district retirees.
Each of the employees departing the district was gifted a hand-painted, customized ceramic mug by art students at Sheboygan North and South High Schools.
This initiative came into existence after the SASD Human Resources Department looked for a more personalized and meaningful way to honor those retiring throughout the district.
Each student who participated worked under the direction of South art teacher Brian Sommersberger and North’s Dannielle Arneson.
Each mug created has its own unique design, which reflects the retiree’s work and the creativity of the student designing it.
On the designs, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Jami Hintz said, “These teachers and staff members have spent years supporting students, and now the students have a chance to create a keepsake to honor their time here.”
In total, those retiring from the district have combined for more than 1,300 years of service.
