The Two Rivers Polar Bears lost their Shoreland League opener to Denmark by score of 15 to 4 at Walsh Field in Two Rivers.
Two Rivers led 3 to 1 after two innings and with the game tied at 4 after three frames, Denmark scored the game’s final 11 runs, including 6 in the eighth to put the game away.
Manager AJ Lorrigan tells Seehafer News. Com “Denmark is always a solid team. Their veterans have won several Shoreland titles, and the newer players have won state championships in high school.”
He continues “We’ve got a new team of guys who’ve never played with other before and these first few games are about trying to figure out how they all fit together. I see a lot of potential and I think we will have a very competitive team this summer.”
The Polar Bears had five hits on the night, with Evander Kummer taking the loss on the mound.
Two Rivers travels to Appleton on Wednesday (tomorrow) night for a non-league game against Legends and will play The Manitowoc Bandits at Municipal Field in Manitowoc Saturday as long-time Polar Bear and Bandit Shad Hintz will be officially inducted into The Shoreland League Hall of Fame.
The ceremony begins at 5 p.m. with the first pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
