Lakeland University has received grant funding to set students up for post-graduation success.
The Lakeland Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (LUCIE) has received a $35,000 grant from The West Foundation to open a Community Design Studio (CDS).
The CDS will be located at Jake’s, A Lakeland Community in Downtown Sheboygan.
Once opened, the space will serve as a platform for students to gain real-world experience by working with clients, building professional relationships, and filling their design portfolios.
Businesses in the community will be able to engage with the studio and students for services that include website design, social media, package design, and much more.
Lakeland Assistant Professor of Graphic Design Kate Prange said, “We wanted to bridge that gap for the community and for our students. The CDS works just like an advertising firm or design studio, without the large financial overhead.”
