The City of Sheboygan has readdressed the investigation into its former City Attorney.
The Sheboygan Committee of the Whole met last night (June 2nd), with the only item on their agenda being to deliberate on the findings of the Fond du Lac Police Department’s investigation into Charles Adams.
While exactly what was discussed at the meeting is unknown due to it being held in a closed session, Adams resigned from his position as City Attorney after the findings of the investigation were first presented to the Committee in March.
The resignation came after a 127-page report was released that focused heavily on Adams’ conduct, including using a third-party program called Data Cove to unlawfully view both incoming and outgoing emails of any city employee, including the City Administrator, Police Officers, and others.
Based on evidence from Data Cove and a long list of interviews, the Fond du Lac Police Department recommended a charge of Misconduct in Office for Adams, a felony offense.
Originally following his resignation, any future talks regarding the former City Attorney’s conduct in office were canceled, however, the City has decided to revisit the matter but, at this time, what was officially discussed during the closed session meeting remains unclear.
