A Manitowoc man charged with a drug-overdose death might not be going to trial.
According to court records, attorneys for 38-year-old Christopher Ducat say they are anticipating filing plea paperwork because of recent discussions with prosecutors.
Ducat was set to go to trial, but a plea date has now been set for July 1st.
Manitowoc Police Officers were called to the city’s southside in July 2023 on a report of an unconscious man who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Fentanyl was found at the scene and is believed to have killed the man.
Police say Ducat and the victim communicated with each other before he was found dead, warning him that people were overdosing on the drugs that Ducat allegedly gave him.
