The man facing charges for killing his cellmate in the Green Bay Correctional Institution is scheduled to go to trial today (June 2nd).
25-year-old Jackson Vogel will be back in a Brown County Courtroom for jury selection before the trial gets underway.
Judge Donald Zuidmulder will be presiding over the case.
Vogel recently withdrew his not guilty by disease or mental defect plea but is still pleading not guilty in the case.
He’s accused of killing 19-year-old Micah Laureano in the cell they shared because of his sexual orientation and race.
Laureano was found strangled in the cell after a guard at GBCI found him.
Vogel is serving prison time for a Manitowoc County stabbing in 2016.
Vogel pleaded no contest to a charge of attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide after he stabbed a family member.
