A state representative’s bill to recognize treatment and commercial courts is progressing in the Wisconsin Senate.
3rd District Representative Ron Tusler explained that the bill aims to improve government efficiency by allowing commercial courts to handle large claims and commercial cases.
Tusler noted that commercial cases are specialized and require significant insight, sometimes taking up to three years to resolve.
He also explained, “By setting up a court specifically for qualified commercial cases between businesses, we allow our judges to focus their time on cases that take up the most resources in our criminal justice system.”
The Wisconsin Supreme Court concluded a seven-year pilot project that established circuit court dockets for large-claim businesses, which is why Republicans are seeking to enact this measure into law.
Democrats argue that the bill grants businesses more power over the judicial system.
