A longtime Manitowoc resident and Army veteran will officially part ways with his hundreds of pieces of handcrafted artwork this weekend.
The work of Richard Young will all be up for auction Saturday morning (May 31st) at The Inn on Maritime Bay in Manitowoc.
Over his decades of carving, Young has created artwork ranging from busts of celebrities to vases, and even hats.
Richard’s work garnered so much attention, he was event commissioned by what became Milwaukee’s Discovery World to design and carve the 4 by 6 foot donors’ plaque for building the sailing vessel Denis Sullivan, and by the South Shore Yacht Club to design and carve the Queen’s Cup Race trophies for six consecutive years.
In total, there will be over 350 carvings available over 240 lots, all auctioned off by Gallery 10 Auction Services.
This is the first time ever his work has been for sale to the public.
The previews will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the auction will start at 10:00.
