
The WIAA Baseball Tournament opens with regional play today for a couple of Divisions.
Division Three openers include Roncalli hosting Loudes Academy/ Valley Christian of Oshkosh, Manitowoc Lutheran visits Valders, Mishicot heads up to Southern Door, Kohler/Sheboygan Christian entertains St. Mary’s Springs of Fond Du Lac, Howards Grove is at Algoma, and Horicon hosts Oostburg. In Division Two, Two Rivers is in Appleton to play Xavier, Kiel hosts Berlin, Sheboygan Falls travels to Winneconne, Sheboygan South is at Campbellsport, and North Fond Du Lac plays at Plymouth.
The Division Four slate includes Sheboygan Lutheran at Cambria Friesland, Hilbert hosts Central Wisconsin Christian of Waupun, Green Bay NEW Lutheran/ Providence Academy travels to Tigerton, and Sevastopol goes to Port Edwards.
Regular season baseball games have Manitowoc Lincoln hosting Pulaski; Denmark hosts Green Bay Preble, and Wrightstown heads to Chilton to play the Tigers.
Meanwhile, Manitowoc Lincoln is the fourth seed in their bracket of The WIAA Division One baseball regionals that opens next Tuesday.
The Ships will host 13-seed Oshkosh North at Municipal Field with the first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
Other Division One regional openers have Sheboygan North at Beaver Dam, Denmark at Green Bay Preble, Pulaski hosts Green Bay Southwest, Bayport entertains Ashwaubenon, Green Bay East/West heads to Hortonville, and West De Pere hosts Kaukauna.
Several local and area high school baseball teams are ranked this week.
Manitowoc Lincoln received honorable mention recognition in this week’s Wisconsin High School Division One Baseball Coaches Poll.
The Ships close the regular season with back-to-back home games against Pulaski and Kaukauna today and Friday. De Pere jumps four notches from sixth to second, Kimberly is third with Green Bay Preble, and Hortonville is voted honorable mention.
In Division Two, Seymour is ranked second, Kewaskum is up a spot to fourth, Wrightstown remains at number ten, with Campbellsport receiving votes.
The Rockets of Cedar Grove-Belgium remain ranked second in Division Three.
Chilton falls two sports to eighth, Random Lake is 11th with Kewaunee receiving votes, and Gibraltar/Washington Island is ranked fourth in Division Four.
