Sheboygan will again be addressing the lawsuits they are facing.
The City’s Finance and Personnel Committee will meet today (May 27th) at 6:00 p.m., with the most significant items on the agenda being a vote to authorize payments to retain legal counsel in two separate lawsuits involving the city.
The first names recently retired Police Chief Chris Domagalski as a defendant in a case involving the wrongful arrest and detention of an individual.
However, this lawsuit does not implicate or accuse the former Chief of any wrongdoing, but rather serves as a middleman to identify the names of John Doe officers and a supervisor with the Sheboygan Police Department.
Once Domagalski supplies the identities of these individuals, he will be removed from the suit entirely.
The second case, filed by Katherine Kobs, a former HR Department employee, claims she was wrongfully terminated and was the subject of sex discrimination and withheld wages.
Kobs previously filed a Charge of Discrimination with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and received a Notice of Right to Sue on March 6th.
Additionally, the committee will vote on retaining Attorney Nicholas Cerwin of von Briesen and Roper, s.c., to serve as the Interim City Attorney following the resignation of Charles Adams in March.
