After first announcing the initiative over a year ago, a local organization has installed a series of banners honoring local heroes.
Shady Lane in Manitowoc began installing banners on power poles and light poles along Dewey Street, honoring the men and women of Manitowoc who gave their lives in military service.
Each banner in the Salute to Service Banner Program features the individual’s photo, name, branch of service, and/or credentials.
Todd Meerdink, the CEO of Shady Lane, Inc., noted, “We’re grateful to the City of Manitowoc for approving this project unanimously and are proud to be able to highlight not only our beautiful campus, but the trail leading to the military-themed Red Arrow Park.”
