The Wisconsin DNR is asking for the public’s help to update Wisconsin’s Beach List.
Each year, the DNR’s beach program contacts residents, local beach managers, and public health departments along Wisconsin’s Great Lakes coasts to determine any changes needed to the Wisconsin Beach List and program information.
This year’s proposed list for changes includes a beach at Sugar Creek County Park in Door County, Communiversity Park in Brown County, and South Shore Beach in Milwaukee County.
Public comments are needed so that Wisconsin can keep funding from the BEACH Act, which is an amendment to the Clean Water Act.
The federal funding allows communities with Great Lakes beaches to monitor for elevated levels of E. coli.
Public comments can be sent by emailing DNRBeachHealth@wisconsin.gov by December 31st.
