A day for Manitowoc County residents to be served breakfast at a local farm returns in June.
The 35th Annual Breakfast on the Farm will take place at Twin Elm Family Farm on Highway 151 west of Manitowoc on Saturday, June 8th, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Manitowoc County Farm Bureau Committee Member Kelly Wilfert explained to SeehaferNews.com that the Farm is made up of two families.
The farm was purchased by Dale and Cheryl Wagner and is now run with help from their son, Tyler, and his wife, Brianna, along with Jacob and Megan Luebke.
Wilfert explained that the families hosted breakfast on the farm 25 years ago, and a lot has changed since then, including the integration of technology, such as having a free-stall barn and putting in robotic milkers.
She notes, “This is a family that really values that technology and how it’s able to help support cow comfort, cow health, and of course the business, and the family too.”
Like last year, this year’s Breakfast includes ham and cheese omelets, sausage, cinnamon bread and butter, and more.
Wilfert says attendees will also get to tour the Farm.
“You’ll still see that free-stall barn were the cows can go lay down in their same beds, they can get up and access fresh food and water whenever they want,” she explained. “You’ll still see those scratching brushes and the fans to keep them cool. And just like last year, you will be able to see a robotic milker.”
There will also be plenty of activities for kids.
“We’ll still have the cow bounce house, we’ll have a petting zoo, an opportunity to take a photo with a calf,” she described. “And of course, our dairy princess and Ms. Farm Bureau will be crowned for the upcoming year.”
For Breakfast on the Farm, visitors will be asked to park in a field near Twin Elm Family Farm and shuttled to the farm.
Wilfert tells drivers that South Union Road will be turned into a one-way northbound from Highway 151 for parking.
Breakfast on the Farm is also looking for volunteers for the event.
