Sheboygan South High School’s E-Sports team fared very well during the spring state championships this past weekend.
The South High League of Legends team won the state title on May 16th, while the Valorant team finished as the state runner-up that Saturday (May 17th).
This year’s spring Wisconsin High School E-Sports Association (WIHSEA) state championships were held on a bit of home turf for the Redwings competitors as gamers from across the state converged on Lakeland University to crown the champs.
The League of Legends championship comes with a bit of significance for Sheboygan South as well, as they will be the last-ever champs because WIHESA has announced that they will be retiring the game from their selection after their victory.
This is just the latest strong performance in esports throughout Sheboygan County as Lakeland’s own Rocket League team finished 3rd at nationals earlier this month, and the Sheboygan North Fortnite team won the WIHSEA state championship in February.
