
Memorial Day is no small matter in Northeast Wisconsin.
In the cities of Manitowoc, Two Rivers, Mishicot, Chilton, Sheboygan, and Green Bay, there is no shortage of celebration and commemoration for the local military veterans who gave their lives serving the United States.
To celebrate and honor those who served, check out the local parades, ceremonies, music, and more happening on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29th:
Mishicot
- Memorial Day Parade
- At 12:00 p.m. the Mishicot Memorial Day Parade will start on Main Street. The community gathers every year along Main Street to honor and remember those who served
- Memorial Program
- Following the parade at 12:30 p.m. there will be the Memorial Program at the Mishicot Cemetery. It will be a solemn ceremony to pay tribute to all the fallen service members.
- Lunch
- 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. lunch will be available at the Vets Club in Mishicot. It will be an opportunity to enjoy lunch with the community hosted by the local veteran’s organization.
- Open House at Mishicot Historical Museum
- The Mishicot Historical Museum will be hosting an open house from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for all to explore local history and heritage.
Chilton
- Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony
- At 9:30 a.m. Chilton’s Memorial Day Parade will begin in downtown Chilton and proceed through the downtown area. The ceremony will be at 10:00 a.m. at Chilton High School Commons. The parade and ceremony will be honoring local veterans and service members.
- Celebration at Mulberry Farm
- There will be a Memorial Day Celebration at Mulberry Farm starting at 10:00 a.m. Mulberry Lane Farm is offering free admission to all veterans, both active and retired—as a gesture of appreciation for their service.
Sheboygan
- Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony
- Sheboygan’s Memorial Day Parade will begin at 9:00 a.m. on 7th Street & Center Avenue, then proceed north on 7th Street to Michigan Avenue, west on Michigan to 9th Street, then south on 9th Street, concluding the parade at Fountain Park. The ceremony will be immediately after the parade at Fountain Park. Speaking will be Lt. Col. Jon Doiron (U.S. Army) to give tribute to veterans and active-duty service members.
- Brat Fry
- At Fountain Park there will also be a brat fry raising money for the Military and Youth Foundation and the Marine Corps Leage.
Green Bay
- Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony
- The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptists Church in Howard, then proceed to the intersection of Velp and Riverview Avenues. Following the parade a ceremony will begin around 11:00 a.m. at Duck Creek Cemetery. There will be live entertainment, food, and drinks at Duck Creek Pub starting at 12:00 p.m.
- Memorial Day at Green Bay Botanical Garden
- Free admission will be offered to all veterans and military personnel at the Green Bay Botanical Garden from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. All visitors can enjoy the “Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea” exhibit and the garden’s spring blooms.
- Running to Remember 5K
- The annual Memorial Day 5k held at Fort Howard Memorial Park in Green Bay is back for another year. The run is to honor all military heroes locally who made the ultimate sacrifice. The 5K will begin at 8:00 a.m. and it is $38.10 to enter. All proceeds will support H.O.O.A.H. WI and their mission to eliminate suicide with a proactive approach to overall wellness of service members and veterans.
- AIM’s Memorial Day Party
- Art is Medicine will be hosting a Memorial Day party with a silent auction, live music, and food. Items for the silent auction have been donated by Harbor Freight, Dave & Buster’s, Stillmank Brewing, Rock n’ Roll Land, Cheesesteak Rebellion and others. Live music will be performed by Sit Kitty Sit and the Bastard Association. Lastly, there will be pulled pork sliders and Salmon’s Footlong ½ lb Brats served.
