A Manitowoc man charged with causing a disturbance that required the Manitowoc SWAT Team has been convicted.
40-year-old Demetrius L. Norton pleaded no contest to battery or threat to a judge, prosecutor, or law enforcement officer after the incident in March last year.
Manitowoc County Judge Anthony Lambrecht dismissed charges of disorderly conduct and two counts of resisting or obstructing an officer.
Norton will be back in court on August 4th for sentencing. Manitowoc Police were called to the Manitowoc Place Apartments after someone said Norton was threatening to kill them and the children who were inside the apartment.
Gunshots were also reported, but no one was injured. MPD was threatened by Norton in a stairwell when they entered the apartments, saying he would shoot anyone who came to get him.
After tactics to get him out of his apartment failed, the Manitowoc County SWAT team was called, and K9 Reiley was used to get Norton out of his apartment.
