The Wisconsin DNR reminds residents to plan before visiting Wisconsin public lands like Point Beach State Forest.
The Wisconsin State Park System can be a popular destination for weekends and holidays, like Memorial Day.
The DNR asks visitors to be patient with staff and others over the weekend because it’s the first buy period of the season.
Staying on the trails and being mindful of conditions before hiking or biking is also important. For those going to a public state park or forest, a parking pass is required for all motor vehicles at most places.
Most state areas are open from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
The DNR also asks visitors to clean up after themselves since some areas don’t have garbage or recycling bins.
More information about what parks you can visit can be found on the parks page of dnr.wisconsin.gov.
